Entryway Refresh With Artifact Uprising
Three years ago I started using Instagram to build a brand. I wrote down a list of people I dreamed of working with. At the top of that list was Artifact Uprising. A three year twisting, twirling journey from photographer to creative business owner to home design blogger later, here we are! I feel like I’ve arrived and can’t stop pinching myself that my first ever real blog post is with THE one and only Artifact Uprising!!
I knew I wanted to use their modern metal frames in the entryway because they have sleek lines, with modern and minimal framework that looks contemporary and expensive. I wanted a bold statement that created an emotional connection to our home and family the second you walk in the door. I have sort of outgrown my love for a hodge podged collage walls and can spot a cheap Ikea frame a mile away. But, will never outgrow my love for oversized art and a good black and white candid photo!
I opted for random photos (mostly from my phone) that captured everyones personality. Not sure how thrilled my mom will be with the photo of Todd and and I making out on a boat, but what do ya do ;). Picking out the perfect photos was 100% the hardest part of the project!
These are size 20 X 30 in a metal finish with acrylic plexi glass. Read: they won’t break when Jack inevitably throws a football at them! I debated going with a brass finish (the come in gray, brass, and black) but am happy I went with black metal because I love how it works with the light fixture (which is Restoration Hardware).
The chairs are vintage theatre chairs from the Colorado Ballet and they speak to my soul. It was love at first sight when I found them! The flooring is Swedish hardwood from a company called Stuga- floor type Klinta. Halleloooo the tile is no mas! Let’s not talk about how big of a project knocking the old tile out was…Todd may or may not be slightly bitter.
Custom framing can be the biggest pain! But, with Artifact Uprising it’s easy with photos from my phone, professionally framed, and sent to my doorstep ready to hang, nails included and everything. As a professional photographer quality prints are so important to me. No thank you Costco for turning my black and white photos blue, and my skin to fourteen steps past a bad spray tan!
